Distaff (noun).—In music, the treble clef in a score for keyboard instruments (see figure below).

  1. Well, it is clearly the more feminine clef, especially when compared to the Roman A Clef, or the Largemouth Bass Clef.

  2. If this dictionary were really unabridged, it would not have failed to note da other staff.

  3. And what about the Staff of Life?

    • They mostly got laid off when the magazine ceased monthly publication and went to a special-issues-only format. A few stuck around to try and turn their vast archives of photos and such into both those aforementioned special issues and a website with more on it than one pic of a spider that thinks its a house.
