HAVING READ AN announcement in a “tweet” from one of her acquaintances, prominent society spinster and philanthropist Miss Alida Fortescue-Montague-Finch showed up for the “tea party” downtown in front of the Federal Building wearing a smart new bonnet and a pair of her grandmother’s lace gloves. She said she had never been so disappointed in her life.

  1. Really? One would think Miss Alida would have been elated at the prospect of meeting some many new gentlemen callers.

    • Miss Alida expects her gentlemen to dress much better than that.

      • Better good manners and a rough exterior than a smooth exterior and rough manners.

  2. Considering that the Tea Party organizers and members are mostly women, she would be unlikely to meet many men.

  3. I brought several servings of Lyon’s Green Label direct from the heart of Connemara but there was no hot water to be found! Curses.
