  1. Any relation of John Walker, well-known author of “To Ease My Aching Heart”, and “The Dog That Bit Me”?

    • Other readers have attempted to connect him with George Herbert Walker Bush, but with no success. For a “well-known author,” James Herbert Walker has left remarkably few traces of himself. In Google Books, the only book by a James Herbert Walker that could with even the remotest possibility be the same man is a manual of heating and ventilation published in 1920. We suppose, however, that Mr. Walker was well known to his mother, and that suffices for the epithet on the title page.

  2. Doesn’t top Charles Dickens’ chapter headings, not by a long shot.

  3. How clever! Title and synopsis at the same time.
